WATER TRAGEDY Woman, 50s, using wheelchair dies after entering water off Dublin pier as Gardai investigate
A 50-year-old woman drowned off a Dublin pier.
Gardai are investigating the death of a wheelchair-bound woman.
Gardai and the Irish Coast Guard rushed to recover the body and wheelchair.
Yesterday at 2.30 pm, the body was recovered from Dun Laoghaire pier.
The woman’s body is in Loughlinstown mortuary.
Post-mortem and court files will be done later.
“Garda are investigating all circumstances after the body of a 50-year-old woman was recovered from Dun Laoghaire at 2:30 pm on Monday, June 27, 2022,” a spokesperson said.
Her body has been moved to Loughlinstown mortuary for a post-mortem.
They added, “A coroner’s Court file will be prepared.”
A driver died after crashing into a wall and catching fire.
The fatal crash happened on Athy Road in Stradbally, Co. Laois, at 2.45 p.m.
The crash killed the car’s sole occupant.
A post-mortem at Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined Athy Road (R428) tonight.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí attended the scene of a single-vehicle, fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Athy Road in Stradbally, Co. Laois this afternoon, Friday 24th June 2022 at approximately 2.45 pm.
“A car hit a wall and caught fire on Athy Road.
“The collision killed the vehicle’s driver and sole occupant (details unknown).”
