Walter J Donahue Jr Thursday January 13th 2022

He was 87 years old and died peacefully on January 13, 2022 at Lahey Clinic Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington. He was the son of Walter J. Donahue Sr. and Margaret M. (Igo) Donahue. The Class of 1951 alumnus of Saint Charles High School enrolled in the Marine Corps at Parris Island, South Carolina. He proudly served with the Marines in Korea.

Walter moved to California after his military duty and worked as a Reservationist for American Airlines and a Travel Manager for the Parsons Corporation in Pasadena. He was an administrative assistant at Bechtel Power in San Francisco. He later helped establish a metropolis in Saudi Arabia. He spent his retirement years in Egypt. Walter visited almost 50 countries for work and pleasure. He liked to travel to Amsterdam, Cairo, and Istanbul.

Walter enjoyed stamp collecting, listening to music, especially Elton John, using computers, and reading widely. While in Egypt, he helped the Coptic Church. He belonged to the Ex-Patriot Club in Cairo and the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) in America. He was devoted, generous, kind, and compassionate towards his family and friends. He treasured the moments he shared with everyone. Those who knew him and called him a friend will miss him profoundly. His siblings, Barbara Ann Donahue and Kenneth Donahue, predeceased him. Brother Stephen Donahue, his partner Joan Atkinson and sister-in-law Joanne Donahue all survive Walter.

He also had several nieces and nephews. We hope to unite in the future to commemorate and remember Walter’s love and friendship with those he impacted in a public gathering when it is safe to do so.
