Gardai suspect Lisa Thompson’s body may have been at her home for days.

Investigators say the unfortunate mother-of-two died a “violent and traumatic” death.

The Gardai have yet to identify a prime suspect in her murder, according to reports. The 52-year-body old’s was discovered on Tuesday afternoon at Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun, north Dublin.

Darren McCarthy, the chief superintendent, said they were maintaining an “open mind” about the gruesome murder. He claimed Dublin Fire Brigade responded to a 999 call and alerted the Gardai.

“Lisa had been seriously assaulted and had major injuries,” said Chief Supt McCarthy.

“The Sandyhill Gardens scene endures. The Garda Technical Bureau is now inspecting the property.

Dr. Linda Mulligan, Chief State Pathologist, has begun a Post Mortem on Lisa’s body this morning.

“I have set up an incident room here at Ballymun Garda Station and assigned this murder inquiry to a senior investigative officer. During this difficult time, An Garda Sochána will continue to keep Lisa’s family informed and assist them.

“Lisa was a well-known member of her community who died in a violent and horrific manner.

“A Garda Sochána continues to investigate all aspects of this murder, keeping an open mind as to the reason for the attack at this time.

“I would like to thank the community for their cooperation and assistance, which has helped us in our inquiry.

“I am appealing to anyone with information to contact us at Ballymun Garda station. We need to hear from you, no matter how minor you believe it is.

“Lisa died before her body was found at her house at 3.30 pm yesterday.

Please contact us if you have any information about Lisa’s movements between Saturday, May 7th, and Tuesday, May 10th.

Please come forward if you have video evidence from that time period from Sandyhill, Ballymun, and the nearby roads of Marewood Crescent, and Balbutcher Lane.

He claimed that due to operational injuries, we won’t say if a murder weapon or signs of forced entry were recovered.



Although detectives are examining a number of lines of inquiries, they have yet to identify a chief suspect for the brutal killing.

The Irish Sun can reveal she wasn’t under any type of threat and had no links to criminality. There are no clear motives at present and every avenue is being examined by police. One source told us: “This case is a complete mystery and the victim has suffered a terrible death.”

Gardai have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the Ballymun area since the discovery of the body.
