The match at Ballintemple could be worth €200,000 to Cork GAA.

As the board looks at the more than €30 million in debt from rebuilding Páirc U Chaoimh, the event is a welcome bonus, especially since the All-Ireland senior hurling quarterfinals were the last big national GAA game played at the new stadium.

Cork’s economy benefits. “It will be in the six-figure range, pending final confirmation.”

Munster Rugby CEO Ian Flanagan said.

“This is a huge honor and a milestone for Munster Rugby, which we’re proud of.”

“Our thanks to the IRFU, GAA, and Cork GAA for their input, time, and consideration in reviewing this proposal and for allowing us to host our touring game against the South African Select XV at Páirc U Chaoimh on Thursday, November 10.

We understand the significance of being the first professional rugby team to play at Cork GAA’s home.

“While we have a fantastic facility in Thomond Park, one we’re proud of, bringing the game to a wider audience in the province has been a strategic goal for many years, and our staff’s commitment to this goal is a credit to them.”
