Teenage son of Irish Olympians Rob and Marian Heffernan chances of Serie A move resurrected

Cathal Heffernan, Ireland Under-17 captain, might be on his way to Serie A giants Milan after his Cork City move was revived yesterday night.

Heffernan returned to Cork yesterday after the deal collapsed late Thursday night.
The 16-year-old defender was in Italy to discuss a move from Cork City to San Siro.

The deal collapsed at the last minute for unknown reasons, and there was little possibility of it being salvaged before the transfer window closed on Monday.

However, Milan contacted the players’ representatives again yesterday evening, raising hopes of a settlement.
Milan are one of several big European clubs interested in the outstanding young defender.
Heffernan trained with Milan, Juventus, Roma, and Atalanta last year.

If the deal doesn’t go through by Monday, they’ll likely try again in the summer.

This year, he could attract additional clubs as he captains the Boys in Green against Portugal, Bulgaria, and Finland.
