“Sesame Street has been a big part of my life for more than 50 years, and for that I’m grateful.”

Emilio was proud to say that he had the “longest-running role for a Mexican-American in a TV show.”

“We are grateful that he shared his skills with us and the world.”

DeLgado joined Sesame Street as Luis when it was still called Sesame Street in 1971.

The way he acts is unique. On the show in 1988, Luis married the show’s other big Latin star, Maria Figueroa played by Sonia Manzano.
