GARDA PROBE Man in critical condition in hospital after vicious assault in Cork as gardai make appeal 2022
There was a fight for his life last night in Cork City after a brutal attack.
The victim, a 40-year-old man, was critically hurt in the attack on Oliver Plunkett Street in Dublin between 6 and 7.30 pm on Friday.
A person walking by saw the man lying in the street and called for help right away.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he is still in critical condition and can’t be saved. There was a short period of time when the scene was closed off by police. Garda technical experts did a forensic examination.
It isn’t clear how the attack happened, but because it happened in broad daylight, the Gardai think a lot of people saw it.
Officers have been making door-to-door inquiries in the area. They are also expected to look for CCTV footage from any businesses in the area.
They want people who saw the assault to call them.
People who were in the area of Oliver Plunkett Street between 6 pm and 7.30 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021, and saw this attack are being asked to come forward.
Road users who were in the area of Grand Parade and Oliver Plunkett Street are also being asked by Garda to give them any camera footage they have, including dash-cam footage, that could help them solve the case.
