Among Northern Ireland’s most renowned drag artists is Joshua Cargill, better known by his stage name Blu, who competed in the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in 2019.

The final of the worldwide tournament was a tough one, with Blu competing against Jujubee, Mo Heart, and Baga Chipz.

Judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and Graham Norton were all in attendance.

The competition culminated in a lip sync battle for the grand prize.

Mo went head-to-head with Baga in a duel set to Jessie J’s Domino, ultimately winning the match.

The Reflex by Duran Duran was the next challenge for Blu and Jujubee, with Blu coming out on top.

A lip-synch battle to Kylie Minogue’s Supernova followed, with Blu coming out on top.

On Tuesday night, the Maverick bar in Belfast was packed to the rafters as joyous fans gathered to watch Blu’s crowning.

As a Green Party councilor, Mal O’Hara tweeted: “Oh mummy! I’m so sorry!” In the UK Drag Race vs. the World, @BluHydrangea triumphed.

Showcasing this city’s incredible drag prowess. Wow, I’m so incredibly proud.
