Limerick’s John Moran appointed to key role in Grid Finance

Former Department of Finance Secretary General John Moran has been appointed non-executive chairman of Grid Finance.

Grid, a micro and small company lender, confirmed the appointment of the Mungret man, a former EIB director.

“We have goals to help as many as 10,000 firms by the end of 2023,” said Grid CEO and founder Derek Foley Butler. I am happy to continue working with John to grow Grid in Ireland and globally. “With John on board as non-executive chairman he will bring essential strategic advice and expertise that will be invaluable as we continue on our path to help SME’s grow their financial health and well-being,” said Mr Butler. We already have big plans for 2022 and beyond.”

To help Derek and his colleagues develop their world class SME support platform, Mr Moran said he was happy to join the Grid board. During the SME Recovery campaign, I witnessed Derek and his team’s passion and desire to help small and micro enterprises develop and prosper.

“We all know that these enterprises are the backbone of the Irish economy.” I am enthused about the company’s future goals and look forward to being a part of it. As with the firms it supports, GRID is now a tiny business, but I believe it has the potential to grow into a major player in Ireland, the EU, and beyond.”

Grid also has offices in Dublin and Lisbon, the Portuguese capital.

To help SMEs cope with the pandemic, John and I worked closely together.”
