Limerick people asked to be cautious of social activity amidst Covid-19

THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH MID-WEST has advised Limerick residents to exercise caution when engaging in social activities due to a spike in Covid-19 instances across the region.

The organisation has stated that because to the high amount of cases, there may be a delay in data reporting, thus counts may not be up to date; however, early analysis indicates that at least 2,300 new cases are reported in the region per day.

The true infection rate is likely to be greater due to extraordinary levels of transmission among the three counties and nationwide.
“The past several weeks have been tough for many of us, especially during and after the Christmas period, where some plans had to be changed,” said Dr Mai Mannix, Director of Public Health Mid-West.
