Eddie Hearn expects to announce Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano’s superfight next week.
Taylor, the undisputed lightweight world champion, will face the Puerto Rican in what is already being called the largest female boxing bout ever.
Both parties have been working on bringing the two together for months, with plans to meet at Madison Square Garden in April.
And Hearn has issued an update for Irish supporters as they await the historic match.
Ahead to the Michael Conlan v Leigh Wood news conference in Belfast, Hearn told The Irish Mirror that Taylor must nail the Serrano bout.
Working with Serrano’s Youtube boxing star Jake Paul, Hearn feels Paul brings a lot to the table and will be an addition to the fight.
“It’s just a massive fight, we’ve been in a good situation for a long time.” I expect to solve the finer details this week.
“He’ll be a huge asset in our struggle for history.”
Hearn is excited to see the Bray boxer’s career come full circle after they first started working together.
“It’s the time women’s boxing is recognised as boxing globally,” he remarked.
This is a game-changing event, not just the biggest female bout ever.
This is what we’ve been working towards since Katie came into my office seven years ago.
