FATALLY STABBED Woman appears in Carlow court charged with murder of Juris Viktorovs in Wicklow

A WOMAN has been charged with killing a man in Wicklow earlier this year. She has been in court.

At a court in Carlow, Nicola Brennan, who didn’t have a permanent home, was charged with killing Juris Viktorovs.

On February 10, Mr. Viktorovs was found dead at his home in Shillelagh, Ballyconnell, Co. Wicklow.

After the short hearing, Ms. Brennan, who is 31, was put in jail for a week.

Mr. Viktorovs, who was from Latvia and was 36 years old, was found dead in his quiet cul-de-sac home.

He had been stabbed to death at a social event.

Since moving to Ireland, the father of two is thought to have lived at different places in Co Wicklow and Co Carlow.

Yesterday morning, Ms. Brennan went to Carlow District Court to talk to Judge Geraldine Carthy.

On Wednesday, Detective Sergeant Dermot Treacy gave proof of an arrest, a charge, and a warning at the Bray garda station.

He said that Ms. Brennan didn’t say anything when she was charged with murder. She didn’t say anything during yesterday’s short hearing.

Her lawyer asked for help from the government because Brennan is on social welfare.

Judge Carthy gave Brennan legal aid and sent her to the Dochas Centre, a prison for women in Dublin’s Mountjoy neighborhood.
Next Wednesday, she will be back in Carlow District Court.
