Entries now open for Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year 2022

INTERNATIONAL FILMMAKER OF THE YEAR 2022 COMPETITION RETURNS TO THE 26th Annual Fresh International Film Festival from March 28th to April 2nd.

Young aspiring filmmakers aged 7 to 18 are invited to enter online before the deadline of January 21, 2022.

You can win €1,000, €700, or €300 towards your next film or school equipment by entering the competition.
Athletes can enter in one of three categories: Junior (7-12 years), Senior (12-18 years), or International. Senior films will be exhibited at one of the regional heats in March. Fresh International Film Festival runs from March 28th to April 2nd, and the awards will be given at the final screenings of the Senior and Junior finalists.

All submissions are assessed for the International, and Audience Awards, as well as the Radharc Trust Award for documentaries, the RTÉ 60 Second Award, and the RTÉ Factual Award.

“I wonder if the seclusion and confinement has changed your world,” remarked Festival Director and Founder Jayne Foley. Has it changed your mind?

It changed how you interacted. I wonder if it will affect the way we create art and films, as well as the subjects we chose. Artists have already made work in response to the problems and difficulties it raised. Do you have a specific point?

“As a filmmaker, you have options. Stories can come to you in a spark of inspiration or from something you read online or in the news. And you wonder. Assume! What’s next? The plot then takes off. Remember that there are those willing to assist.

Anyone eager to help you realise that tale will be willing to help you realise it. It’s all so close. All you need to do is decide. It’s time to restart. We await…”

In 2022, the Festival will celebrate its 26th year of inspiring young filmmakers from Ireland and abroad. Whether it’s a comedy, drama, documentary, music video, or animation, the organisers want to see it! duration of 15 minutes or 10 minutes for Seniors.
