Cranes removing South Goal video scoreboard to be seen at work at Spotify Camp Nou

Part of the third tier has already been taken down to get ready for the main work in November and December.

C Barcelona has begun dismantling the South Goal video scoreboard, which was out of service for the Champions League game with Viktoria Pilsen.

Parts of the stadium’s infrastructure were removed on September 1, and cranes can be seen working from the Spotify Camp Nou forecourt.

Cranes removing

During the November-December World Cup in Qatar, a large part of the third tier will be removed. The outer ring, the cantilever roof over the South Goal (formerly the Medical Centre), and half of the third tier will be demolished.

Three-phase demolition

Three stages are planned. The preliminary stage should be over by the World Cup break. The third tier’s main structure will be removed next, and new staircases and emergency exits will be built so the first and second-tier seats can be safely used.
