Covid Ireland: Department of Health confirm big change to case announcements from tomorrow

The Department of Health has stated that a significant modification would be implemented in the way Covid-19 case counts are reported in the future.

Case announcements will now only be made on a daily basis from Monday through Friday.
Monday, January 31st will be the day when the next report of COVID-19 cases will be released.

The data over the weekend will be taken into consideration when cases are reported on Monday.

On Saturdays and Sundays, daily hospital and intensive care unit information will continue to be posted on the COVID-19 Data Hub in the same manner as before.

On Friday, the Health Protection Surveillance Center received notification of 5,109* cases of Covid-19 that had been confirmed by PCR.

In addition, 4,482** persons registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal on Thursday, January 27th.
As of 8 a.m. today, 707 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals, with 69 being admitted to intensive care units.
