Charlie Cox Daredevil workout Routine

Charlie Cox wasn’t a superhero before “Daredevil.” Cox had the acting chops for “Boardwalk Empire,” but he lacked the physique for Marvel’s hit Netflix series.

Until he started a muscle-building regimen, fight training, and a bulky diet. The 33-year-sculpted old’s ripped body would make any superhero proud.

Charlie Cox stepped up for Marvel’s first Netflix series, “Daredevil.” Cox and the gang have taken the new series to a new level, visually and physically.

Cox must perform extensive fight scenes, be flexible, and look great in the superhero suit on “Daredevil.” It takes dedication for a guy who wasn’t a gym rat to stay fit.

Name Washington, his coach, said, “People train to maximize body movement. They’re athletes. Charlie likes my MBA and MMA background. Modern, MMA-specific movement.”

Depending on “Daredevil” production, Cox works out three to six days a week.

“Never seven days because you should rest. Five days is typical “said Cox. “Before the show, I workout six days a week. I get in shape so I can focus on the show and my acting when we start shooting. So I can do 3-4 times a week.”
Cox’s modern workout isolates body parts.

His workout consists of weightlifting and boxing.

Training Full Body

  • Barbell Bench Press: 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  • Chin-Up: 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  • Weighted Front Box Jump: 3 sets of 10 reps
  • Weighted Barbell squat jump: 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  • Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 3 sets of 10-12 reps
  • Dumbbell Rear lunge: 3 sets of15 reps per leg
  • Medicine-ball power slam: 3 sets of 20 reps
  • Seated Cable Row: 3 sets of 12-15 reps
  • One-Arm Dumbbell Row: 3 sets of 10 reps

Fight Training

  • Jump Rope: 3 min.
  • Shadow boxing: 2 rounds of 2 minutes
  • Heavy bag punch combination: 3 rounds of 3 minutes
  • Heavy bag power kick: 20 reps per leg
  • Thai Pads: 3 rounds of 3 minutes
  • Focus mitts: 3 rounds of 3 minutes
  • Jiu-jitsu: 1 hour

Cox doesn’t forget the cardio

Washington listed Cox’s cardio routines.

Trampoline: “I’ll have him run on a treadmill with a 5-degree incline. Every minute, we go to 12 and back. He’s running up a hill that gets steeper every minute.”

Rowing: “Charlie, you have 500 meters in 1:45. He’d go boom.”

Predator: “It’s like pushing a football across the field. Every offensive line practice, he moves like a big metal thing in the three-point stance. Charlie does this in the gym for time intervals. They’re tough, buddy.”

“Be really militant with your food,” the actor said. “I’m naturally skinny, so gaining weight is a challenge for me. I have to eat six, seven times a day, and I have to have a lot of carbohydrates to try and fatten me up so I have something to turn into muscle.”

“First season, I was skinny, but I ate chicken, broccoli, sweet potato, rice, and pasta. All my protein shakes have carbs, so I’d have one with sweet potato.”

Meal 2: 8 oz Chicken breast, 1 cup Brown rice
Meal 3: 1 Protein shake, 1 cup oats
Meal 4: 8 oz Chicken breast, 1 cup Brown rice, 1 cup Broccoli
Meal 5: 1 Small Avocado, 1 Protein shake
Meal 6: 8 Egg whites

“Season 2 has been about maintaining fitness, so balanced eating has been key. It was all about training and eating like an athlete, so I ate plenty of protein.”
