A FIRE caused the evacuation of the Emergency Department of University Hospital Limerick.
A representative for the UL Hospitals Group confirmed to the Leader that Limerick Fire and Rescue Service responded to the underground car park at University Hospital Limerick overnight after a car fire. The vehicle’s owners were unharmed.
The fire is thought to have started due to a mechanical failure.
“At around 00.45 a.m., staff were informed to a fire in the parking lot beneath the Critical Care Block.
