ATTACK TRAGEDY Murder probe launched after man, 50s, fatally attacked in Tralee, Co Kerry

A MURDER probe has been launched in Tralee after a man was fatally attacked in the Kerry town this evening.

The man in his fifties was assaulted during an altercation in an apartment in the town center of Tralee.

A man who was found inside an apartment in the Abbey Court apartment complex in Tralee with serious injuries drew the attention of the Garda and emergency services personnel, who rushed to the location.

A brief period of time later, medical personnel at the scene confirmed that the man had passed away.

In connection with the incident, a second adult male in his fifties was taken into custody.

He is being held in custody at the Tralee Garda Station at the moment.

Garda has notified the local coroner and requested the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau.

The body remains at the preserved crime scene.

 

 

Tomorrow morning, a scene examination and postmortem will be conducted.

Investigators have held an initial case conference at Tralee Garda Station.

GARDA: “Garda in Tralee is investigating the death of a 50-year-old man on May 22, 2022.

“A man in his 50s was found with serious injuries shortly after 7 pm in an apartment in Tralee’s Abbey Court complex.

ARREST

Shortly after, he was pronounced dead.

“A man in his 50s was arrested and is being held at Tralee Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

“Garda have notified the local coroner and requested the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau.

“The deceased’s body is still at the scene. Tomorrow morning, a scene examination and postmortem will be conducted.

Investigators have met in an incident room at Tralee Garda Station.

“Garda are appealing for witnesses, especially those in the Abbey Court Apartments and Denny Lane/Street areas between 6:30 and 7:00 tonight.
